Holtwood Methodist Church has been described as a "Spiritual Oasis" set in a beautiful rural location a few miles north of Wimborne in Dorset (UK).  Our aim is to serve God in our community and beyond, to help to spread the Good News that Jesus is alive today and that, through faith in him, we too can enjoy life eternal.  The great commission given to Christians by Jesus is that we must take this Good News to everyone - so that we may all decide for ourselves whether we are on Jesus' side or against him - for there is no middle road!

Our website is intended to give you an overview of the Church and community activities that are provided here at Holtwood.   Please browse this site to find out more about Holtwood and to see whether it's for you; better than that, come and visit us - you'll be made very welcome!

Holtwood Church & Community Hall Rev. Nigel Deller

MEET OUR MINISTER - Revd Nigel Deller who can be contacted on (01202) 822212 or by e-mail at

Nigel is the minister for Verwood and Witchampton as well as Holtwood and arrived here in September 2011following service in the Newquay & Peranthporth area of north Cornwall and, before then, in south Devon.

Holtwood Community Hall is a wonderful, fully accessible new facility which includes a large hall supplemented by a splendid kitchen and a fine toilets and showers suite.  And that's not all!  We can also offer a large adjoining field which is ideal for camping, games, barbecues, etc.  To top it off Holtwood is surrounded by a network of public rights of way so short or longer walks can easily be arranged, including to the nearby Horton Tower and Rowe Common.  For booking details please contact Anne Sanyal on (01202) 880201 or email

Peter Aston is a Christian singer/songwriter based at Holtwood and helps to lead worship at Holtwood and at other churches and outreach events across the country.  His songs have been played on radio stations around the world, especially in the United States, Australia, Ireland and Italy.  You can visit Peter's website by clicking here or by going to our links in the main menu.

Trussell Trust - we regularly make quite large gifts of non-perishable food to the Trust Foodbank and on Saturday 31st March 2012 Holtwood supported a Trussell Trust Foodbank Day at Wimborne Waitrose, accompanied by trainers from Curves Ladies Gym of Wimborne.   The need for short-term, emergency support is great and every item really does make a difference - many thanks to all those who contributed and helped to fill-up a transit van with non-perishable food items!    The day brought in an amazing 364.8kg (which in old money is 57.5 stones!) and this is sufficient to provide 111 balanced meals.  You can find out more about the Trussell Trust here

Messy Church comes to Holtwood!  Sunday 6th May between 4.00 & 6.00 was our first afternoon for children with adults - making things, messy activities, meeting together and having Sunday tea.  The theme was Seaside Stories.  Watch this space for details of the next Messy Church or speak with Revd Nigel Deller on (01202) 822212.

Jubilee Ramble - on Jubilee Bank Holiday Monday 4th June at 2.00 there will be a ramble starting and ending at Holtwood with a barbecue, Jubilee Quiz and Table Games to finish off the afternoon.  Do come along!

Holtwood Summer Fete will be on Saturday 7th July between 12.00 & 4.00.  The fete will be opened by singer/songwriter Louise Jordan (click here) who is fast gaining a national reputation following the release of her acclaimed album 'Tempus'.  Louise has also kindly agreed to sing a few songs on the way to her appearance at the Larmer Tree later in the day.  Also confirmed are exciting new folk band Poacher's Moon who are currently recording a special project for release in autumn 2012,  Bournemouth Christian rock 'n' rollers Route 66 and barn dance band Dotty Crotchets.  Our own Peter Aston will also be contributing a few songs to help 'fill in the gaps!'

The fete will start with a sizzling barbecue and you can also enjoy cream teas with (all being well) strawberries fresh from Holt Forest, plus a wide variety of stalls and games.  There will also be a scarecrow competiton on a theme of  'red, white & blue' - so that could include the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, the Euro Championship, the Olympics - or even American Independence Day!

Watch this space for more news items soon!
